Tote Bag

Loved the bag  on the tutorial for
Missouri Quilt Company with Jenny and Vanessa back in January 2015.

Followed their tutorial using a stashed jelly roll and few of the other stashed 2.5" strips.

The only thing I would change for the next bag is to put some kind of loop closure on the top.

WIP Wednesday Project

Started on a new quilt X's & O's using up some stash and other fabrics.  This is such an easy quilt pattern.

Wanted a bright lap quilt.

Using the pattern from Jenny Doan Craftsy class
however my blocks are 7"
with squares 3 1/2 ".
At this time not sure how big this quilt will end up.

Miranda's Cupcakes

On Friday after school, Miranda decided to make herself a new bag! Hannah and I recently cleaned out the sewing room and found a bunch of material that Miranda can use for various projects. She decided the cupcakes would be perfect for the outside of her bag and paired it with a blue interior. She was able to sew and quilt the bag all by herself and only needed help with cutting and the zipper. The project took less than an hour and now she has an adorable bag for her chapter books! So proud of her! Can't wait to see what she decides to make next...

Stethoscope Zipper Bag

The Zipper Pouch: An Easy Quilting Project Tutorial by Jenny Doan of Missouri Star Quilt Co

The first of many zipper bags.  Hannah came home saying how she needed a bag for her stethoscope for her nursing classes she started this last week. I have been wanting to try this bag and thought it would be a great bag for the occasion. That night, we decided to give it a try. The tutorial makes a smaller bag so we decided to make it bigger by adding more strips. We also did not realize that what we thought was the outside was really the inside. So we ended up reversing it as compared to the tutorial. We finished it off by adding a  yellow zipper that really complimented the fabric colors well. It fits her stethoscope perfectly and fits in her new "IU School of Nursing" bag she received at the induction ceremony Monday night.

New Mystery Quilt

Down By the Boardwalk with Pat Sloan.  Free quilt patterns starting in January 2015. There are 2 options.  I am going with the navy colors.  I love the first block 12.5 x 12.5 ".

Aftur Pullover

I finished my first bottom up pullover.  Interesting how the sleeves are grafted with Kitchener Stitch after sweater completed.  Changes made from original pattern: 2x2 ribbing.  Used up yarn that was purchased as a kit, from Knit Picks for a blanket and some of the Lopi, yarn leftover from my Icelandic Cardigan.

Aftur a free pattern found at this site http://www.istex.is/Files/Skra_0050866.pdf

I love the fit and know I will enjoy wearing this next winter on those cold days.

WIP Wednesday Quilt Blocks

Using Bali Pops Blueberry by From Hoffman Fabrics.  Decided to use the 60 degree ruler for blocks using 6 strips together as hexagon.

Sewing 3 Strips together with lighter color in middle.

Love this Indonesian batik assortment

Will have to  decide how to assemble blocks and what color to use for background.
here's some options:

like this option with hexagon's apart and then using a lighter color between blocks.
