Working on Easy Street

I thought at this time last week I would have all the  Easy Street blocks sewn together by Monday, however life got in the way.  One of the reason it's not completed is I stopped quilting  to work on a knitting project all weekend.  See previous blogpost.

Placing the blocks  up on the design wall was exciting to get an idea of how it will look finished. Hopefully tomorrow I will have some quilting time.  Here are a few of the photo's of Easy Street on design wall and some of the blocks sewn together.

Miranda's Quilts

Finished Miranda's quilt. Using up material from Rachel's quilt.  http://sewjaneenknits.blogspot.com/2012/12/2012-rachels-quilts-completed-this-year.html quilt plus other fabrics.
To get photo's went out on the porch the wind blowing it's one of the coldest days this winter, dropping to 5 degrees this evening.

Background fabric:  Hello Kitty fleece http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hello_Kitty

Below are photo's after the quilt was washed & dried. I try to launder quilt before giving it away, so I know the project will stand up to a washer & dryer (not fall a part).

The blocks are from Craftsy Block of the Month 2012
http://www.craftsy.com

Taught by Amy Gibson:  a fabulous instructor. I highly recommend this free class.

Each block was fun to learn, printed instructions, very good camera angles to watch the demonstration. Once you have signed up for a class you are able to watch on line anytime.

Oh What A Night

Last week we saw the Broadway Show  Jersey Boys !

I highly recommend this show for any age group. ( may want to keep in mind the language is crude in some parts).

Following the show you will want to go home and look up more information on the Four Seasons.   I think everyone knows their popular songs.  Loved the fact Jersey Boys puts background to the songs and the lyrics.

Could you imagine today walking by a street corner and hearing a group of guys singing ?  Think this could be one way to control gang violence, the group with the best harmony goes on to you tube, and then a record deal.

Also over Christmas went to the movie Les Miserables. The movie was superb . The cast was excellent and music outstanding.

Mystery Quilt Easy Street Clue # 6,7,8

I am still busy working on the Easy Street Quilt. This has to be the most piecing I have ever attempted . It's amazing how others have completed their lovely quilts.  I want to know their secret.
I've decided I could win the prize (if there was one ) for the most extremely slow piecer on this mystery quilt along.

The colors are so beautiful together, happy colors.

I have completed all 16 Part A Blocks:With Purple Centers.

Completed All 9 Part B Blocks with the Green Center

Today I worked on the pieced triangles # 2. At this time I have 6 out of 12 completed.

I have  the 4 corners  to piece. Ten more blocks to sew, then assemble rows.

Potato Bags

Here are a few of the Potato Bags I made this summer

Using the Warm Company Batting that's recommended, it's 100% Cotton and has not been chemically treated.  Making it ideal for cooking potatoes, corn, rolls and warming tortillas in the microwave. directions for the potato bags are also include with the batting. http://www.warmcompany.com/warmtater.html
A friend told me this Microwave Potato Bag is a big seller for her craft shows.

Found this youtube video very helpful also.   http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gGvHSwp3iyg
